Launch of 100% nuts and peanut powders
We answer the most frequently asked questions
What is the 100% nuts and peanuts product?
It is a mixture of different nuts (hazelnut, cashew and walnut) and peanuts, ground into powder and unroasted, for easy consumption to avoid the risk of choking associated with whole nuts and peanuts.
Its ingredients are: hazelnut* with skin 32%, walnuts* with skin 32%, cashew nut* with skin 18% and peanut* with skin 18%. *From organic production.
Why introduce 100% nuts and peanuts early?
We can't prevent your child's allergies, but we can help you:
- Eliminate the risk of choking thanks to its powder format.
- Provide interesting amounts of fiber and quality vegetable protein.
- Easily include in their diet a food recommended from the age of 6 months by the Spanish Association of Pediatrics and the WHO.
Why is it so innovative?
We can proudly say that it is the only product in the Spanish market that is a mixture of 100% nuts and ground peanuts intended for children. We want to facilitate the incorporation of nuts in children's diets without the risk of choking, which is the main reason why their introduction is often delayed.
How do I know if I can give it to my baby?
You can give it to them from the age of 6 months if they meet these requirements:
- No food allergies or atopic dermatitis*.
- No family history of nut and/or peanut allergies*.
- She has already started complementary feeding and has already tried a variety of foods on a frequent basis without any allergic reactions.
*In these cases it is necessary to consult your pediatrician or allergist beforehand.
How can I start offering them?
Our recommendations are:
- 1st feeding: Give 1 teaspoon (3g) with porridge or puree, for example. It is recommended to give it during the day, and to observe the baby during the two hours following the intake in case any allergy symptoms appear.
- 2nd dose: If there is no allergy during these days, repeat the same 3g dose.
- Rest of feedings: Thereafter, we recommend including 1 tablespoon (6g) in your meals, once a day, about 3-4 times a week during the first year.
How do I include them in my daily diet?
They can be included in cereal porridges, fruit purees, in your meals, with natural yogurt (from 9 months) or even in homemade recipes such as oatmeal pancakes!
Why were they all mixed at the same time and not separately?
Peanut proteins are very similar in structure to those of nuts. For this reason, it is quite common that people with peanut allergy are also allergic to some of these nuts, as they have a high cross-reactivity.
In the case of an allergic reaction, it will be the specialist who will identify which food it is due to.
I was once told that it was better to introduce peanuts earlier... is it true?
Regarding whether to introduce peanuts first to test their tolerance and then the rest of the nuts, our team of allergists and pediatricians with whom we have designed this product consider that it can be done at the same time.
This is due to the fact that peanut proteins have an important homology with those of nuts, with high cross-reactivity being observed. In the hypothetical case of allergic reaction with the mixture, the subsequent allergological study would determine which one or ones are responsible. In many cases, when the allergy appears, the child is usually sensitized to both peanuts and several nuts. Therefore, they do not consider that there is a clear advantage in introducing peanuts first.
Why is peanut included in the mix?
Our team of allergists and pediatricians with whom we have designed this product consider it very interesting to do so. A single product offers all the allergens of this type of food for which it is intended to prevent a future allergy. This simplifies its administration without having to use two ingredients (peanut and fruit mixture) that families will use several times a week. We make it easy for you!
