How to start with complementary feeding

Cómo empezar con la alimentación complementaria
One of the biggest concerns for first-time parents when introducing complementary baby feeding is not knowing whom to listen to, as it is common to receive 1000 different pieces of advice. At Smileat, we recommend that you always follow the pediatrician's guidance, as they know your child's development and progress step by step, and no one knows better than them what is best for your little one.
Of course, there are standard guidelines that all moms can follow to provide their child with a healthy and balanced infant diet. At Smileat, we support exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months.

From 6 months

During this stage, your baby can start with meat, which provides high nutritional value. Usually, it begins with chicken and turkey, which are milder white meats, and later beef is introduced. In our Smileat organic jarred food store, we have purees made with each of these meats. Your baby can enjoy the delicious jars of chicken and rice puree, turkey with vegetables, or vegetable and beef puree. Natural jars made with organic products of the highest quality.

From 8 months

Your baby can now eat delicious fish purees! You should always start with white fish, such as hake or sea bass. At this stage, one of our best sellers comes in: our organic baby jar of vegetables with sea bass and hake, free of gluten and added salts. Simply ideal for children's lunches and dinners.

A little later
You can introduce red or tropical fruits. We recommend our organic fruit pouches for babies, Smileat drinkables, organic fruit purees with no added sugars in pouch format, so your little one can easily enjoy them. We haven't mentioned snacks during this process; we have created delicious healthy and nutritious snacks for children. The organic Smilitos can be introduced once your baby starts eating corn, as it is their main ingredient. They are made from organic corn and extra virgin olive oil, nothing else!

Although we started by saying this, we must not forget...
The initial feeding and nutrition of babies is based on milk as the sole food. Nutritionally, it is a very complete food, and its liquid texture makes it possible for the baby to suckle without problems.
To help parents follow all these recommendations and maintain an age-appropriate infant diet, Smileat indicates on all its labels the age from which its products can be consumed. However, the steps recommended by the pediatrician for each baby should always be followed.
