When can we start giving jars to our baby?

¿Cuándo podemos empezar a darle tarritos a nuestro bebé?

All jars usually indicate with a number from which month we can give them to our baby. Typically, jars made exclusively of fruits or vegetables indicate that the appropriate age is from 4 months, those containing chicken or beef usually recommend from 6 months, and those with fish from 8 months.

The reality is that every child is different and develops at a different pace. In principle, breast milk can cover the baby's nutritional needs up to 6 months, but in situations where the mother cannot breastfeed until that age or special cases where the child requires greater nutritional intake, complementary feeding could start before the sixth month, but it is never advisable to do so before the fourth month.

This introduction of foods should be done gradually, one at a time, allowing at least a week after each new food is introduced. This way, if any food is not tolerated or causes some type of allergic reaction, it is easy to detect. If we introduce several new foods at once and one of them causes a problem, we will not know which one it was.

When our baby has tried all the ingredients contained in a jar separately without any adverse reaction, they can safely eat it.
