Tips for feeding your baby outside the home
Leaving the house with a baby or toddler is always a challenging task. We have to pack their bag with diapers, wet wipes, changes of clothes, bibs, a blanket, toys… Plus, we need to get the baby ready (which is no easy feat)... And we even have to think about the meals they will have throughout the day, or days if we’re going away for the weekend or on vacation.
When the baby starts complementary feeding, feeding our baby outside the home requires a lot of meal planning and organization; should we bring purees? Buy them? Give them restaurant food? What snacks should we bring for the baby?
All answers are correct, as every family does what they can in these situations and what they think is best for their little ones.
Let them eat like the rest of the family
The easiest solution that causes the least headaches in these cases is for the little one to eat the same food as the rest of the family. It’s clear that this isn’t always possible, as it depends on the child’s age and their ability to chew and swallow.
In these cases, it’s highly recommended that the child starts to be independent at the table and eat on their own, even if they have to use their hands. However, if they don’t usually do this at home, it’s better not to start practicing in a restaurant because they’re going to make a big mess!
Prepare homemade baby purees
If we’re organized and will be away from home for less than two days, we can prepare purees made by ourselves. It will take quite a bit of work, but the result will be very positive for our little ones. If you choose this option, remember to have glass or plastic jars on hand and put the purees in the fridge as soon as you finish, so you can take your baby purees anywhere. Also, try to use the healthiest ingredients you can. At Smileat, we also have a range of organic cereal purees and gluten-free purees for those moments when you don’t have time to cook and that you can prepare quickly anywhere.
Baby purees
For more important meals, you can prepare some purees depending on the baby’s needs. You can choose to make legume purees, pumpkin and zucchini purees, or vegetable purees for the baby at home. You also have the option of giving fruit purees for snacks.
Smileat jars
At Smileat, we offer a wide variety of baby food products that can help you in these situations. You can take them on trips, and they are 100% organic. Our jars are suitable for both meals and snacks and guarantee a healthy, varied, and balanced diet.
It’s a practical and healthy option for our little ones, without a doubt!
